Pickwick 1A Services (P1A) owner Carolyn Malone and staff were joined by Pickwick Group CEO Ken Holder to celebrate this year’s NAIDOC with The Sanctuary of Embracing Difference (TSOED); an Aboriginal owned and operated Charity supporting Aboriginal womyn and children since 2013. TSOED delivers culturally informed practices and free programs for womyn and children who experience social isolation, domestic violence, social exclusion, physical and sexual abuse, and incarceration.
Aunty Christine Barney a Woppaburra Elder, Pickwick 1A Director, Wandarrah Kindergarten President and TSOED Director is a Storyteller and, on the day, shared her history and connection to her beautiful Great Keppel Island country.
Leanne Phillips, P1A Chairperson and TSOED Founder and Managing Director said, “We have focused on our Incarceration to Community program in 2020, which provides social and emotional support to Aboriginal womyn serving a custodial sentence and post release whilst they move back into their lives.”
NAIDOC is a family day, a culturally safe and informative day where community comes together to share culture and storytelling to build bridges and relationships for shared futures.
